Kevin M. Solan is of counsel to the firm and heads the firm's civil litigation and surety defense practices. Mr. Solan has been a trial attorney since his appointment in 1972 as an Assistant District Attorney in New York, NY. He served for 10 years and gained trial experience under the most demanding circumstances. He was a member of the Fraud and Major Felony Offense Bureaus under District Attorneys Frank Hogan and Robert Morganthau and tried numerous jury trials to verdict. In 1982, Mr. Solan left the District Attorney's office and took his skills to the civil arena, expanding his trial experience in the defense of professional liability claims. After relocating to San Francisco in 1984, Mr. Solan has focused his practice on representing fidelity insurers, sureties, banks and general contractors. Mr. Solan received a bachelor of science degree magna cum laude from Fordham University in 1968 and his law degree from Georgetown University of Law Center in 1972. At Georgetown, Mr. Solan was a member of the American Criminal Law Review. Prior to pursuing a his legal career, Mr. Solan was an accountant on the auditing staff at the firm of Price Waterhouse & Co. Mr. Solan's publications include "RICO and the Surety" and "The General Agreement of Indemnity-Traps for the Unwary" published in the TIPS Law Journal. He is an active member of the ABA Section on Tort and Insurance Practice. (Fidelity & Surety and Construction Forum Committees).
